With a cherry on top

We spent last weekend with our fabulous friends who had the fabulous idea of spending the night in Park City. It was a perfect end of school celebration and a fun getaway. The weekend included good conversation over good food, amazing caramel apples, hot tubbing, shopping, my very first massage, a beautiful stormy morning at breakfast that magically turned into an amazingly sunny day, and much needed quality time with Treavor. Isn't it amazing how little time it takes to get completely rejuvenated?! 22 hours to be exact in my case. We took about 3 pictures and this was the best of them. Gotta document right?

Also: The only thing better than leaving a nut-case-two-year-old-boy, is coming back to him.

As for Owen, life is good. He's usually pretty whiny, unless all three of us are playing football as a family. I don't know if the terrible twos are kicking in a week early. Hopefully it's short lived.

Here's where you come in:
Now that the days of required text book reading are over, I'm promising myself that I will read more novels. I feel like I've never really had the time to delve into some really good books, and I'm excited for the opportunity. Will you pretty, pretty please, tell me your favorite book? or list of books, or even just a good book. Chances are I haven't read them. I'll take any genre and (try) any level of difficulty. I'm going to start with The Help, because that's Mally's favorite. My promise to you, is that I will read the book you recommend, and I will report on it. And I'll return the favor by telling you, my all time favorite book is To Kill a Mocking Bird.

Well my favorite is To Kill A Mockingbird too!!! But others to list just a few: Mr. and Mrs. Mike, Rebecca, Jane Eyre, Twilight Series and Harry Potter series. I like books from all genres!! I LOVE to read and wish I had more time to just sit and read (to myself that is) ;o)

What a fun getaway! That's so nice you had some quality time with the hubby and did all those fun things in such a short time! Sounds heavenly.
As for the books...some of my favorites have been The Work and The Glory series. There are 9 books so it's a lot, but I've read them twice! Children of the Promise series, and the next series after which is The Hearts of the Children. I love those too!

Hannah and I have found a new author that we really enjoy- Lynn Austin. So far all the books we've read are good. Also the Hunger Games series is good. Congrats on passing math- from one math challenged gal to another!

So nice you were able to get away, you deserved it! It is amazing how being away helps in so many ways. I think I may have to take some of the suggestions you receive and do a little reading myself...Owen is as cute as ever!

Enjoy!!
And about the Terrible Twos--- I found they started and peaked at 18 months!!

I finally read Pride and Prejudice when Pyper was a newborn. I absolutely LOVED it and recommend it to anyone to read. I really want to read Sense and Sensibility sometime soon too. Gotta love Jane Austen books. About those terrible two's: I don't think they ever really end. If they do, my kids missed the memo. Cade is in his Sulking Seven's. It's special.

Yes, Park City was awesome, glad you guys could come! As for favorite books...oh, how to choose...Marley & Me is a great book for an entertaining and light read. My all time favorite is Little Women. Brady and I recently read The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns and LOVED both of them. The subject matter is a little heavy (the war in Afghanistan), but the books seriously had a huge impact on me. Great writing and amazing stories.

Totally hear you on the terrible 2's thing. Last night Claire threw a screaming and kicking fit on the sidewalk in front of our house because she didn't want to come inside. Awesome.

I am sure you are looking forward to getting to read something you want to instead of something you have to. A series that I LOVED is "Sisters of the Quilt". The titles are "When the Heart Cries", "When the Morning Comes", and "When the Soul Mends". I had a hard time putting these books down and I was sad when I finished them because I loved the story! Hope you enjoy them... if you get enough time to read all the great recommendations!

The Help is sooo good! One of the best books I've read in a while. I 2nd Jo's recommendation of These Is My Words - one of the best books ever. I didn't love Glass Castle, but others did! :) Have you ever read A Town Like Alice? I loved that. Some other good ones: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast by Robin McKinley, The Goose Girl, and Nine Coaches Waiting by Mary Stewart was a really fun mystery!
